Adelaide Ignite and how to choose a high-ability pathThree Ignite, other specialist programs, on-campus support and family verification forms

Ignite is a specialist pathway in three government schools, but it is not the only answer for high-ability children. First check the current entry, then compare support, commuting and wellbeing.

The SA Department currently lists three Ignite schools: Aberfoyle Park High School, Glenunga International High School, The Heights School.

The three schools must confirm one by one.

Aberfoyle Park says Ignite serves Years 7–10 and accepts out-of-zone applications; its selection process will be updated. Glenunga's 2027 Year 7 cycle is assessed on 2026-02-21 and ends on 02-08. Applicants are required to only take assessments at one Ignite school. For the current entry details of The Heights, please return directly to the school page or contact the school. You cannot make analogies from the other two schools.

High-ability support is not just about exams

Department guidance reminds families to work with educators to focus on learning and social-emotional development. Decisions such as whole-year acceleration require individual evidence and professional discussion; this guide does not diagnose giftedness, nor does it recommend acceleration for a particular child.

How to compare without ranking

Put the three schools and the local school on the same table, and compare what the children can do, how teachers give feedback, daily commuting, peer environment, wellness support and whether the family can implement it in the long term. Don’t turn an assessment result into a child’s value judgment.

## About Airbotix

Airbotix Family Guides organizes the selection path. Project learning allows children to demonstrate their interests and thinking, but it is not a gifted assessment, nor is it tied to Ignite admission.

Next Step

The list of projects comes from the official, and the individual cases decide to return to school.

Entry, assessment and fees are subject to the current page of the Department and the school; for course activities, please contact Airbotix.
